Adventures in DIY Has a Shop!

Hey there!
I'm hoping to get back to DIY'ing & blogging on a more regular basis soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to share some exciting news.  I have opened up a shop on Etsy:  Adventures in DIY Shop!  It's something that I've been wanting to do for a few years now and it's finally up and running!

If you've been reading for awhile, you know that I'm a big Disney fan.  Actually, to be precise, I'm a big Disney parks fan.  Being a Disneyland annual passholder, I go quite often.  I started making mouse ear headbands to wear to the parks and decided to start selling them as well!  I have some ideas for other items to sell also, but until those ideas go through development, I'll be selling just ears. for now.

Please feel free to check out my shop at the link above.  My shop's main social media account is on Instagram (I post more frequently there), but the shop is also on Facebook.  I also share pictures of my Disney adventures on Instagram.

Etsy Shop Feature: Joy Frameworks

Hello!  I've been busy, busy lately - lots of things going on!  The hall bathroom has been done for a couple of weeks - I'll be sharing the reveal soon.

Today, I wanted to share an Etsy shop with you - Joy Frameworks.   A lot of her items are made from antique ceiling tins.  I've been eyeballing her stuff for a long time and finally ordered a couple of items (both made from the ceiling tins).

First of all, my items came wrapped beautifully!  An early Christmas gift for myself.  :)

Ikea Shopping

I made an impromptu trip to Ikea and a few things caught my eye, so I thought I'd share.

I've been eyeballing these for awhile, but passed on them again.  They're cute though.

After a few times of passing on buying them, this was actually on my list to finally buy the aqua version.  And sure enough, they were out.  Figures.  But, they are way cute.  I was tempted to buy the coral version, but passed since I was kind of mad that they were out of the aqua.  Hmph!

Seriously?!?  Why, why, why didn't they have this color 3 years ago when I bought several of these in pink for my Expedit in the craft room?  Gah!  The best color they had at the time was pink, so that's what I got.  Don't get me wrong - pink is a nice color, but it's not really my thing.  I was super tempted to replace them all with these, but I would need to buy 9 and at $5 a pop (which is actually pretty cheap), I didn't feel like parting with $45, especially when I wasn't planning on it.  Hmmm...maybe another time.

And look at how cute these hanging pots are!  I'm seriously loving all the aqua/turquoise, coral, and yellow that Ikea has available these days.

Even though I didn't buy any of these items, I will eventually share with you what I did buy...as long as it comes out good.  :)

New Year's Shopping

My bff and I had our first outing 6 years ago on New Year's Day,  so we decided to spend this New Year's Day together by going to a movie, lunch, and a bit of shopping.  Corny - yes, but it was really just an excuse to get together.  :)   And by the way, we went to the 10:10am movie showing and wow - it was totally dead there.  When the movie let out by 12pm and we went to a restaurant - it was still really dead out.  I guess everyone was still sleeping away their New Year's hangover.

Just wanted to share some of my findings from shopping today...

I have been looking for one of these ceramic egg crates.  I saw them on a blog (can't remember which one) and thought it was a clever idea to put jewelry in for daily use - easy to grab and go.  There was a link to a site where it was, I think $12.  I didn't want to spend the money at the time, but had regretted not getting it.  I ended up seeing it online at Cost Plus World Market and for only $5.99!  I happened to be by the store today and they had 2 left in white.  Score!

Then,  I went to Joann to use a gift card I got for Christmas.  I bought some of the smaller letters (12 inch) for a project.  I originally was going to get the larger ones.  They were 23 1/2 inches - I decided they were way too big and I didn't think they were chunky enough.

Here are some cute mugs from Target.  I almost got this Rome one since I was just there and it happens to be in the blue/aqua color I love.  And that moped is too cute.  But, I don't drink coffee and rarely use mugs, so I didn't get it.  :(

This New York City one was cute too.  I've been there as well and love the coral color.  They also had a Miami and Paris one too.  I thought about getting the whole set, but I've never been to Paris (yet) and still couldn't justify getting them since I don't use mugs.  They were very hard to resist.

Another Target find - these canisters with chalkboard tags are so cool!  I love the lid colors and anything chalkboard is a bonus!  Didn't purchase these either, though.

It was a really good day and after being sick for 2 days, it was good to get out, but boy was I beat by the time I got home!
Can't wait to start some new projects for the new year and see what everyone else has in store!

Home Goods Eye Candy

Hello again!  I'm still working on those lovely french doors of mine (it's gonna take awhile!), but in the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of things I found at Home Goods over the weekend.

A quick side story:  Home Goods/TJ Maxx opened up over the summer in the city next to mine -  I cannot tell you how ECSTATIC I was about that because before, the closest one to me was about an hour away.  It took me a few months to finally make a trip to the store - I originally had heard that it was a TJ Maxx, but while driving on the freeway, I saw a sign that said TJ Maxx and Home Goods.  What the what?!?!  So, I finally cruised on over there last weekend and a couple of things caught my eye.

Driftwood Tree - $49.99.  I loved this, but didn't want to shell out the money for it.  (It was very tempting though).

Driftwood wreaths - $19.99 and $39.99.  I debated on buying the small one, but told myself that I didn't really need another wreath.  But, the whole time that I was walking around the store,  I kept thinking about it.  If I think about it long enough, I can justify buying it, so I ended up scooping it up.  :)  Instead of putting it outside on my front door, I'm going to hang it up inside the house.  I just need to find the right spot.

I also finally bought a set of sheets for my bed that I like!  I've had so much trouble finding a set that fit correctly (I have a California King, so sometimes the pockets on the fitted sheets aren't deep enough, even though it's labeled for a California King), feels good, doesn't rip (ugh - the last set I bought at Home Goods was Cynthia Rowley brand and they ripped after a few months because they didn't fit the mattress properly).  So, I'm really, really pleased with my new sheets.  And they're Calvin Klein - $59.99 for the set.  Woo hoo!

They had lots of cute Christmas stuff too, but in my shopping frenzy, I didn't get any more pictures.  I'm just glad that there is a Home Goods nearby now so I can pop on over whenever I please and not spend tons of money there on one big shopping trip.   Now, I can spend a little bit of money there lots of times.  :)
