Home Depot Tiling Workshop

Back in July, I took advantage of one of Home Depot's free workshops on how to tile.  I still haven't gotten to my master bath remodel and hoped this might kick me into gear.  There was only a few other people who attended, which made it nice so we could have time to ask questions.

The instructor of the workshop showed us our options of tools that would be needed for different types of tiling projects.

DIY Privacy Window Vinyl

I shared awhile ago when I got my new front door.  And then I shared when I finally painted it almost a year later.  As much as I wanted & love having windows in the door, I also was a bit worried that someone could peak in when at the door - you know, sometimes I just don't want to open the door to unexpected/unwanted visitors and I don't want anyone casin' the joint either.  I know window vinyl is expensive (between $20-$40), but one day, Thrifty Decor Chick wrote this post on how she covered her bathroom windows using clear contact paper, so I gave it a shot.  The clear contact paper is about $6 per roll and there's a ton of it on the roll - I'm thinking I might be able to use it as "vinyl" for other crafty projects (not sure if that will work, but I'll give it a try).

Craft Room Redux - A Start

You may soon be seeing some fewer posts around here.  This crazy heat has slowed down my progress (i.e. it's made me lazy).  We actually had a slight break from the heat over the weekend - had some light rain on Saturday and a good amount of rain on Sunday evening.  It made it nice & cool, so I took advantage of it and got to work.

For awhile, I had been thinking to re-arrange my craft room.  I previously shared the "in progress" here.    I have an idea of how I want the room to turn out - it will just take some time because I'll be buying a new piece of furniture and building/buying a workstation.  Once I learn how to make a proper mood board, I'll share my ideas for the room.  But, first thing's first - I needed to get started on this because my craft room had turned into a dumping ground since Christmas.  It was getting really bad in there.  *Shudder*

So, this is what my living room looked like the other day after I took everything out so I could re-arrange furniture.

It's like both Joann & Michael threw up in my living room.  ;)  But, seriously - all that stuff on the bottom/middle/right of the picture?  That came out of my Ikea Expedit.  That sucker holds A LOT!

So, I'll be working on this and part of the garage re-organization and they'll both take a bit of time.  And if the heat starts up again, then I might get lazy again.  In the meantime, wish me luck in cleaning up this mess.  Ack!

Ikea Dishtowels Turned Pillows

After seeing some wonderful front porch makeovers, I was super motivated to spruce up mine.  It wasn't really on my list of things to do (all of the exterior & landscaping projects are lower on the list), so I didn't want to spend a ton of money.

Macaroni Chicken Salad (With A Kick)

One of my co-workers often brings in a yummy dish when we have potlucks.  I seriously cannot get enough of it when she does bring it in.  It's a chicken & jalapeño macaroni salad.  And there's not much to it - doesn't get much easier than this.

You've probably seen these about a million times.  I know I have!  Now, I'm not one to follow trends just because they are, well, trendy.  I like what I like no matter how trendy or uncool something is.  But, I'm a sucker for words & letters and the cottage/rustic/industrial look, so as soon as I saw these, I planned to make my own.
